The Read Out of Your Comfort Zone Challenge -- 2018

It is unavoidably clear that we are living in a divided society. We are rarely in agreement about much of substance, and when we are in agreement it tends to be at the expense of the "other" who we are collectively against. Through a powerful combination of our human desire to be safe and the polarizing effects of our social media echo chambers, we've put distance between ourselves and those we don't understand. We get deeper and deeper into our respective camps, unwilling, or unable, to see the opposite point of view. 

Last year, I made a goal to read and listen to different perspectives. There are still so many things I don't even pretend to understand about the world right now, but what I learned from my year of reading and listening outside my echo chamber made me slower to judge and quicker to compassion. My hope for myself and for you is that 2018 will be a year of increased understanding and a more nuanced view of the world. 

And with that somewhat lengthy introduction aside, here is my list of reading (or listening or watching) challenges for the coming new year. I also created a black and white printable version if you want to color it in as you finish!
